Happy Pride Month you guys. I'm JV today's guest editor, taking over for Tyler today. A little about me, I'm an ally to the LGBTQ+ community and I'm a good friend of Mr. Clarke. Today I want to talk about discrimination. To begin I recently watched the musical Parade with Ben Platt (amazing singer btw) in it. It is about Leo Frank who was accused, around 50 years after the civil war, of raping and murdering a girl. During his case the prosecutor made up evidence to give to the jury. He bribed witnesses and really just focused on getting him convicted. He was later hanged by an angry mob when the governor of GA reduced his sentence from death penalty to life in prison. Recently we have also seen a rise in antisemitism and Neo-Nazism (who protested outside of this show opening night). Another well known example of this was Kanye West who many people at my school at least talked about. I'm really confused why there are people like this though. What do people have against Jews? I have quite a few Jewish friends and there great.
The second one is racism and white supremacy. I will not have all the facts because I am a white male, so disclaimer I may be wrong about some things, if you think I am wrong please let me know and I would like to see your perspective, just please do it in a civilized manner (arguing gets nowhere). For many nonwhite people the justice system can be harsh and unforgiving. On top of that you have places like the Daily Stormer (I looked at it. Then, I got really sad and had to take a break from writing this article. I don't know what the scut farrcus those people think and I'm upset about it) who are constantly spreading things supporting white supremacy (they do however have a little thing that says they don't support violence and will ban anybody who makes a violent comment whether or not this is enforced I don't know.) You guys have it though because of all of the racist stereotypes throughout history. On top of that in many states you can find books banned for having Critical Race Theory (defined as looking through the lenses of race in Media to see how it has effected others (like The Help)). This has to stop, we must learn of each others perspectives.
The final one is Pride. This one has been the most under attack for a while. I wrote this article in response to the protest against a Pride assembly at an Elementary school in LA. This was the most recent of many incidents including Target and Chick-fil-A boycotts for being too woke (Idk who in their right mind would call Chick-fil-A too woke). On top of this over the 100 anti-LGBTQ+ bills passed in the last 5 years. This does not include the amount of bills just introduced this year. I think we need to respect all human rights, especially for minority groups (I haven’t even gone on all the things I could’ve) As for the Pride assembly in LA, I do in fact support this action. Education at an early age is a good way to help gain respect for one another and get rid of any stereotypes and hopefully rid us of any discrimination. It will also allow for understanding.

Thank you for reading this Deep Thought
